The Goddess project is an attempt to analyse contemporary culture through the representation of archetypal forms in painting. What could the Goddess represent in the modern world of today? According to Carl Jung, the human mind undertook a period of evolutionary development along with the body, but there are still certain images that can provoke powerful emotions when viewed, based on primal instincts and survival needs. The Goddess appears in almost all ancient cultures and carries with it certain representational values. As the audience interacts with an emblematic painting, designed to appeal to their cognitive foundations, they will hopefully become aware of thoughts and feelings that are awakened by the imagery. What interests me as an artist, is cutting through the superficial expectation of the viewer and giving them an experience they cannot ignore and ultimately building a connection between them and myself using the painting as a catalyst.
